We are seeking guidance and regulations in Germany concerning the landfill disposal of a solid material

Gentlemen,

We are seeking guidance and regulations in Germany concerning the landfill disposal of a solid material containing approximately 80% calcined montmorillonite clay and 20% a combination of iron oxide, iron sulfide with small amounts of sulphur. The iron sulfide is in a non-pryophoric state.

This material has been approved for landfill in the United States and does not exhibit characteristics of toxicity or hazardous waste as defined in US EPA 40 CFR Subpart C Section 261.2 through 261.24 and is not listed as hazardous waste Section 261.30 to 261.33. The material has been listed with the State of California as a soil additive for its iron and sulfur value.

Please send copies of your country's regulations and guidelines for disposal of such a material to the address listed below and please include a contact name and address for further discussions. If you have any questions, please reply to us by return e-mail.

Thank you,

Bill C.

Dear Sir,

an analysis of the type you ask for requires considerable work and has to be paid for. If you give us the information about the budget available for the answer on your side, we might be able to establish a contact to an institution being able to provide the necessary information.

Yours sincerely

Prof. Dr. Maximilian Herberger

Dr. Herberger,

Thank you for the follow-up.

At this time we do not want an analysis done. We want to locate the relevant regulations for such a product disposal. What regulations cover the disposal of such a material, etc?

Thanks again,

Bill C.

helping with locating the "relevant" regulations already is a service that has to be paid for. Under German law a lawyer would have to do this investigation, because the estimation that a regulation is relevant to a specific problem requires legal analysis. Under German law this type of analysis is only allowed to lawyers. (There is a special law on that.)

Yours sincerely

Prof. Dr. Maximilian Herberger
